TEMPTING FESTIVITIES - FOOD & WINE!
I think this is going to be the hardest month of training: I've got my birthday festivities and Christmas parties, oh my! Food and drinks galore so I have to be a good girl!
So my bday was on Friday Dec 5, and obvisouly I had to scale back a little on the festivities to be able to run on next morning. So yes, although I would have loved a crazy full blasted party, I scaled back. Yes, I said I had to be a good girl and keep this up, this is an important month and I don't want to lose momentum. So I was ok spending time with my closest friends and family and I decided to go to Macaroni Grill for a low key, nonetheless fun dinner. Yes, it's Friday and I need my pasta so I had to make sure to incorporate it into my festivities. Wow, this running thing is a true committment, huh? Well, not so much, it was my b-day so I had to do one glass of wine....yes I only did 1, but I would have loved to have more! Here are some pictures from the Grill.
BTW, I was serenated with an Italian opera version of the Happy Brithday song - it was just beautiful and I have it on video, too!
DEC 6
So the Sat after my bday dinner, I woke up bright and early and did my 9 miles and then came home, packed, and drove off into the sunset towards Naples with my clan - dogs and all! We had to give our hippie van the grand voyage. Yes, this is the furthest we have gone in this van since we bought and restored it. Check it out!
So ok, I passed the bday test of being a good girl, but how about the Christmas & New Year's holiday?
Well, I did ok for Christmas, still a good girl - and BTW Santa really likes me - I got great gifts! So far, so good as far as my training and running goes.... I am doing great and wish I can do this Marathon today, right away! I AM SO READY!
For New Year's Eve, well.....I was more of a naughty girl, yes I drank a little more than usual so I had to skip on my training on Thursday, but no problem I have Saturday coming up.
So all this month it has been 9, 10, 11, 12 miles, nothing less. I did my 12 miles on the first Sat of the New Year 2009 and it felt great!
With all the festivities and gathering, I have to stop for a second and remember that I am so fortuante to have all my family and friends healthy and able to enjoy the holidays together. But how about all those that are battling cancers, or have lost a loved one recently due to cancer. Gosh, that must be devastating.
