SEPT 27 - OCTOBER 18, 2008

OK - so I have a lot to catch up on......

One thing is for sure, I healed well (proof of my progress below); I still get some pain for time to time, now it's not on the same tendon, but on my shin.  Defintely not as painful as the tendon pain, this one is bearable, but it is still uncomfortable to run with it.  I will keep going, cause I'm a survivor, a fighter...ok Beyonce.  You know what they say, no pain, no gain!

Anyways, the doc recommended to get orthotics, so I did.  It's an arch support that you slide into your shoe that is custom made just for your feet.  You have to break them in:  one hour for the 1st week, then a couple of hours the next week, and so forth until you feel no discomfort and then you can start running with them and this should over the long term align your back, hips, knees, feet, you'll be walking perfect, no misalignment which is what causes for the most part injuries.  Well, that's what they say, I guess I'll be able to confirm that in a couple of years after being to get a modeling job since I'll walk so perfect :-)   Being that they were made for my sneakers I was having a hard time incorporating them into my daily wordrobe being that I dress business casual with sandals and even if I wear closed toe shoes, they are too big for the shoes and won't fit.  So my doc had to write me a note to wear my sneakers to work for medical reasons.  So yes, I look funny...dressed up and with sneakers, sort of that Ellen Degeneris look.  I can't wait to wear a dress!

So if I am stil encountering some pain, why did I say that I healed well, you ask?  A couple of reasons:

*  The first week back I was on a weekend cruise and yes I used the gym while on vaca, I have never said that!

*  My last long run was a successful 8 miles!

*  Although I was out 3 weeks, I was able to keep up with the team with no problems and I am on schedule, no setbacks!

*  I'm averaging between 15-20 miles a week now....yikes, who would have ever thought I would be doing this?

 MISSION MOMENT

Hailey came to see us again.  It's always a delight to see her.  Her mom told us that they went for treatment and Hailey saw a friend that she hadn't seen in a while that was also getting treated for Leukemia and she asked her mom "the team also runs for her too, right?".  Smart one, huh?

Scott's parents came to training and they told us how they fought for his life for so many years.  It was their only child, and for parents to go through this is just devastating.  His mom said that the only proof that remains to show his existance and theirs (hers and her husbands) are the children that he left behind.  And he will not be able to walk his daughter down the aisle on her wedding day.  It broke my heart to hear that.  Let's not let that happen again.  I will keep raising money to find a cure, so that future fathers can walk their daughters down the aisle.  She said that Scott lived 14 years longer than anticipated because of his will, love for life, his family and friends' support and from the money we r, ai to aid in research, because ultimately that gives hope.  Help me keep hope and find a cure, please donate today!
